Centerline Mapping
Creating a geo-referenced pipeline centerline from hardcopy maps provides the pipeline operator the complete, seamless picture of corporate assets. Using existing hardcopy maps, GDS uses field GPS data and digital, aerial imagery to create a GIS database of pipelines and the associated assets. In the process of creating the GIS database, a complete asset review is undertaken to assure the operator that all pipelines are mapped and that basic information such as pipeline diameter, pressure, and name at a minimum are captured.
GPS equipment formatted with intelligent data capture forms are used as a method to capture data that is not currently stored in hardcopy or digital form. GDS can work with operators to select GPS equipment and configure them for use with intelligent forms.
GDS will work with operators to setup their internal GIS programs or will serve as their “out sourced” GIS departments providing “as needed” GIS services.

Data Extraction from Pipeline Alignment Sheets
Physical assets such as valves, meters, tees, Cathodic Protection (CP) stations, etc. have been historically captured on alignment sheets and “as built” drawings. Extraction of this data, geospatially referencing it, and storing it in a GIS database provides valuable pipeline asset data.
GDS will work with its clients to produce data sets that conform to the client's PODS database schema.

GPS to GIS Data Migration
Data captured using GPS equipment and smart forms must be integrated to the GIS and migrated to pipeline databases. GDS provides data migration services to populate GIS database with data captured in the field.
